Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies /policies in 4th grade
In 4th grade, we follow IHM's PBIS policies for our students. This means that students are rewarded and complimented for their positive behavior. Each student has a feather card stapled into their planner. Each time a student is caught going above and beyond and doing a great job, any teacher can ask that student for his or her card, and we will give them a signature on a feather. When a student fills a whole feather, they will receive a "big feather" up on our bulletin board. For each feather they fill with signatures, they can receive the following rewards: 1 feather - choose from treat bag 2 feathers - pick your seat in class for the day 3 feathers - sit in the teacher's rolling chair for the day 4 feathers - homework pass 5 feathers - lunch with teacher and 2 friends 6 feathers - "ticket" to a movie shown on the SmartBoard
Additionally, in 4th grade, we will begin a "Store" environment. Students can earn "Better Bucks" to spend at our classroom store. This is another way to promote positive behavior and reward those who show they are Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn!!
If there is an incident or a problem in class or at lunch/recess, a teacher can write up an incident report, which is then referred to and dealt with by the PBIS committee.
4O follows all policies put forth in the IHM handbook. All students and parents are to have signed the page in the back of the handbook stating they have read and understood these policies.
Fourth grade promises to follow these rules as written by the 4O homeroom class:
Follow the Golden Rule (Treat others the way you would want to be treated)
Pay attention to the television during prayer, not things on your desk, other people, etc.
Always use kind words
Wait until the teacher tells you to do something, or when she is finished telling all directions
Keep your hands and feet to yourself
Listen to the teacher when she is talking, not talking to other people, reading, play around
Lock eyes with the teacher when she is talking
Be polite to others when you meet them in the hall, classroom, anywhere!
Make sure you have all the things you need with you when you change rooms
Think before you act ore speak
Don’t call out
Do not make fun of others
Use words, not hands
Don’t talk over others
Follow directions the first time
Use your INSIDE VOICES!!!!

Show respect to all adults
You do not have to be BFF’s with everyone, but you do have to be friendly and respectful
Be a ROLE MODEL!!
Do not question the teacher when they ask you to do something
Do not do something you know you should not be doing.
