We have already had some luck this year! Check out these videos from Bethany,
Kaitlyn, Jackson, Kimberly, and Peyton!! We have seen many more videos that had us laughing until we cried!! However, our upload size is only so large. If you are able to send short video clips, we would be ecstatic to load them on!!!
We have all heard those old superstitions about how to ensure it will snow, but have you ever wondered if it could work? 4th grade will be doing an extended experiment over the next few months to test this question. We will be closely watching the weather forecast each day, and any time we hear of the possibility of snow, students will be bringing home Science Journals to perform and record their attempts. If their mission for a snow day should work, students will need to record their results on the day off school. Should their attempts fail, however, we will record our results in school that next day.
Please review the attached write-up (linked to the Happy Snow Day at the bottom) about our assignment so that your student and yourself are familiar with all it entails. We will be creating a final project at the end, so consistent trials and observations are greatly needed. The tests only need to be completed on days when "Operation Snowman" is listed as Science homework (we don't want the power of our superstitions to run out!). Please feel free to take as many pictures or videos and email them to me, and I will be adding our data collections to this page for all to see!
Also, if students are absent, please make sure to check and see if they have Operation Snowman homework, that way they are able to keep on pace with us (they can do it on a separate piece of paper if they did not have their journal with them).
Happy Snow Day!!!
